Choosing the Right Equipment:, special note; Goshen Little League has a specific rule on any bats used during games (note: this applies to the boys Majors and below divisions only). Any bat greater than the absolute value of -9 oz is considered illegal to use.
The minus number is derived by taking the weight minus the length of the bat. ie: a 30" bat weighing 25 oz would have a minus -5, which would be legal. The following are legal bats (Major Boys and Below); -9, -8, -7, -6, -5, -4, -3, -1. Additionally, the barel cannot be greater than 2 1/4"

This is a safety issue, especially as the kids get older and stronger, they are able to swing a lighter bat much faster. This can endanger the pitcher and thus the reason for not allowing lighter bats. For additional help choosing equipment click here.
